If You Have Time, And A Plan You Can Get Out Of Debt
You can become overwhelmed with debt in a matter of days, but getting out of debt can take years. However if you get started on a good debt repayment plan you can get out of debt, it will just take patience and time.
The first thing you want to do is find out how much money you make per month. Once you have that add up all of your bills, this will include the minimum monthly payment on all of your credit cards that you have as well as groceries and any other personal items you purchase on a regular basis. If you payout more than you make, you will need to find some creative ways to gain another source of income or get rid of some bills that are not a necessity, like phone, cable or internet.
Once you figure out how much you are paying out, you now know how much money you have to use to get out of debt. The first debt you want to consider getting rid of is the highest interest loan or credit card that you have. By getting rid of the principal you will pay far less interest every month, interest that can be put towards another bill. Alternatively if you do have a debt that has a small principle and you can pay it off quickly, it will free up one full monthly payment so you can make double payments on the higher interest debt.
So now that you are getting out of debt, this may be enough, however if you are putting the time and effort into it, you might as well make it worth it. Take it to the next step, work extra hours at work and put that money towards your debt. Have a garage sale, on a good day you could make enough money to pay off one of your smaller debts outright. You can also find a second job temporarily to start working down your debt as well. Be careful not to burn yourself out working extra, but in the end it will relieve so much stress that a few weeks of double work would be worth it.
